The restaurant is really a must if you are looking for good food in Tavira. From the front there is a window in which you can see the food being grilled using charcoal. We ate there twice and both times really enjoyed the food. The grilled chicken with Peri Peri is very good. The grilled fish also was amazing. Both are done over charcoal. I can see this place being really busy in high season.

My Portuguese girlfriend and i went there today. We where met with great hospitality. The Sardines and the chicken piri-piri where delicious. We paid around 35€ for both of us. Sidenote: since im learning the portuguese language, i was welcomed with patience and help in english. Do not trust the 1 star reviews, they just gona met you with the same attitude u give them. 10/10 will be eating there again.

Fantastic local food in unassuming small restaurant. Ended up having two meals here, grilled sardines and chipirones the first time then lamb and pork chops the next , all cooked to perfection on the charcoal grill, house wine very good would definitely recommend

Sr José and his wife are the whole staff! Incredible honest food. Best French fries ever and the roasted chicken is amazing and you cannot find anything of that quality and taste in the U.S. Prices are great! Beautiful authentic Portuguese food made by Mr Jose’s wife. Wonderful lunch!

If you’re in Tavira you have to try this no-nonsense restaurant serving traditional Portugese food. Have a seat outside, with a view of the square, and order their piri-piri chicken, it’s fresh from the BBQ and delicious.

The Emigrante was recommended to us by a seasoned visitor to Tavira, and we were not disappointed. The piri-piri chicken was the best we have tasted. Good, friendly service. Very much a traditional, family-run feel in a lovely location at the top (quieter) end of Praça Dr. António Padinha next to the church.

I don’t think it could get better than this. Small business. Not focused on tourists. Noone spoke English. Only a few dishes. Excellent. Went for the polvo con arroz and cheese and olives for starter. It was very authentic and cheap. All costed 20€

Best chicken i've had in Portugal. Juicy and flavorful. We enjoyed sitting outside and watching the town and the birds. If you're looking for something touristy this isn't the place, go here for authentic delicious Portuguese food.

The best Frango Assado in Portugal. Run, do not walk to this restaurant. Love!

While waiting for the church of the old Convent of Nossa Senhora da Ajuda to reopen, I had lunch here. The grilled sardines were delicious!

No nonsense Portuguese comfort food. Fresh and crispy bread. Good prices. None of these are obvious in Tavira.
